  • Swollen of the vaginal area including a burning sensation especially at the time of intercourse or at the time of passing water.
  • The vulva turning red or swollen.
  • Mild pain turning into a severe one including the soreness of the vagina.
  • Rush in the vaginal area causing severe irritation.
  • Thick, white, odor-free vaginal discharge with the emergence of a substance like a cottage cheese.
  • Discharge from the vagina of a watery substance.

The diagnosis process of Vaginal Infection is performed in the following ways:

  • Your doctor will typically ask about your health status including sexual health.
  • They might ask about your current number of sexual partners and your past history regarding the same.
  • Your doctor might go through a pelvic examination to further collect the vaginal discharge samples.
  • After that, they will send the samples to the lab for further examination.
  • This way your doctor can understand the cause of your vaginal infection and can further take the steps to treat the disorder.

The vaginal infection can be treated with the help of an antifungal medication that is further used to combine the overgrowth of the yeast and to bring them in a balanced form in the body.
The antifungal medication further includes two types of medications naming the oral or tropical. Oral medications are something that can be consumed with the help of the mouth whereas topical medications are applied directly in the affected area.
Boric acid, nystatin, miconazole, or clotrimazole are the common types of topical medications. Your doctor will further provide all the details related to the medications and will also direct you on how you can properly use the medications. They will also inform you about the various types of fungus and the causes of the infection.
